My name is Maria Clara Rocha, and I am currently a PhD candidate in Philosophy at the University of Brasília (UnB), in the field of History of Philosophy. My academic path began in 2015, during my undergraduate studies in Philosophy, when I first explored the relationship between Walter Benjamin and the Jena Romanticism, a topic that also guided my master’s research.
My current project continues this long engagement with Benjamin’s work, focusing on the relationship between language, image, and experience in Walter Benjamin.
I am very excited about my research stay at the University of Stuttgart, funded by CAPES (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior), and about the opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues through my project “Memory and History in Walter Benjamin: the image of thought as dialectics in stillness”, which will be carried out over six months under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Claus Zittel.
